There are times we tell our grandchildren what we have finally learned from life and there are times when our grandchildren are curious and receptive, but the two don’t always align and things go missed. As my mother was dying of cancer, she recorded a video clip with my best friend as a goodbye to her children and grandchildren. Upon her death, we all received as a USB stick with Mamma to some and Nonna to others, speaking to us of her pride and love and some significant aspects of life she wanted us to hold on to. My daughter Verity and I chose some New York grandmothers on a recent spring day and photographed them with their granddaughters. We let each child choose an accessory from the grandmother’s wardrobe to wear. We also recorded some of their reflections which we present in the photographs and videos that follow. This is our gift to them. Stefano Azario, NY 5/14/21
